Discover the hidden treasures in the north of Jordan, and visit three of the most beautiful ancient cities in the country. Visit the imposing castle of Ajloun and see the Temple of Zeus in Jerash.

Admire the Ajloun Castle, re-built in 1184 by one of the generals of Saladin, on the site of an old monastery. The view from the castle extends on the Northern part of Jordan and offers and exquisite view of the fertile lands. At the ancient city of Jerash, the already populated city for more than 6500 which experienced its golden age under Roman rule. It is the best preserved site of Roman architecture outside of Italy. You can explore the South Gate, the Oval Plaza, the Temple of Zeus and the Southern Theater and stroll walk along the Cardo Maximus.

Madaba is located very close to Amman, less than an hour’s drive southwest of the capital. It is best known for its mosaics and the mosaic map from the 6th Century located in St. George’s Church. After exploring the city, you will continue to Mount Nebo Church. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and the valley of the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day. Mid-afternoon, you will arrive at the Baptism Site (Bethany Beyond Jordan – Jordan River) where you will explore the site of where Jesus was baptized.

The Amman-Madaba-Mt.Nebo-Bethany-Amman route runs on Sunday and Friday’s only.

Madaba

Along the 5,000-year-old Kings´ Highway, is one of the most memorable places in the Holy Land. After passing through a string of ancient sites, the first city you reach is Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics."

Best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, Madaba is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. With two million pieces of vividly coloured local stone, it depicts hills and valleys, villages and towns as far as the Nile Delta.

Mount Nebo is a sacred mountain in Jordan standing almost 1,000 meters high. The base of the mountain can be reached within 15 minutes by car from the center of Madaba. From the top of the mountain, visitors can see The Dead Sea, Bethlehem and even Jerusalem on a clear day.
